Bichu

2025-2026

A new solo performance blending new writing, dance and live projection, created by queer refugee artist Abel Atsede and Phosphoros Theatre.

Bichu is a revealing, intimate exploration of addiction, heartbreak and repair. An exploration of a lost soul trying to find peace in the storm. The storm leads him towards bottles and pills. The storm disrupts his body, mind and spirit, leaving him hopeless and shaken. A lost person searching for his childhood joy. A soul looking for connection, with or within others.

As the UK grapples with rising anti-migrant rhetoric and a dramatic fall in LGBTQIA+ protections, Bichu is an unflinching and raw performance that resists invisibility and silencing.
