We are delighted to become The Unicorn Theatre’s first ever Associate Company in 2019/20, as part of their major new programme with some of London’s hardest to reach and most vulnerable communities. Phosphoros Young Company will be a weekly drama group for boys and girls aged 14-18 who came to the UK as unaccompanied minors*, held at the Unicorn in London Bridge every Tuesday evening from September.

Phosphoros Young Company will be led by our creative team of experienced theatre practitioners, including Pav, and our actors who are activists, emerging leaders and campaigners for the unaccompanied minor community: Syed and Tewodros.

The group will develop new performances, develop creative skills and make friends with other newly arrived young people living in London. Phosphoros Young Company will hold space for young people who came to the UK as unaccompanied minors to express themselves, tell stories and use drama to help navigate their place in a new community.

Collaborating with The Unicorn Theatre means spending time in a professional theatre every week, seeing accessible and innovative shows as audience members and meeting exciting arts practitioners. The Unicorn Theatre is the UK’s leading professional theatre dedicated to producing inspiring and invigorating work for young audiences. For Phosphoros Young Company, theatre is a space of welcome.

This exciting new project launches in September. To register initial interest email participation@phosphorostheatre.com ASAP. We are keen to hear from young people who came to the UK as unaccompanied minors aged 14-18, any gender, any language level, any immigration status. This project is free of charge.

*What we mean here is young people aged 14-18 who came to the UK to seek asylum without a parent or guardian. These young people would usually have a social worker, maybe a key worker, they might live in foster care or semi-independent accommodation, or they might live with a family member, like an auntie or uncle. If this sounds like you or someone you know then please get in touch.
