Dawn Harrison
Associate Artistic Director
Dawn is a TV writer, playwright and co-founder of Phosphoros. Since 2010 she has been on the core writing team of ITV’s Emmerdale, and has also written thirty episodes of CBBC’s award-winning The Dumping Ground and Tracy Beaker Returns. Her episode ‘Refugees’ won a certificate of Merit at the Chicago International Film Festival (2012) and other episodes have won Royal Television Society Awards. Dawn also won Best Single Episode at the British Soap Awards for BBC’s Doctors.
Dawn is an ex drama teacher and Senior Youth Worker and was Artistic Director of Reading Youth Theatre for over ten years before starting Phosphoros with her daughter Kate.
Dawn co-wrote and directed Dear Home Office with Rosanna Jahangard for Phosphoros Theatre. She also wrote and directed Dear Home Office: Still Pending, Pizza Shop Heroes, All the beds I have slept in, Tender and Life in the UK (T&Cs Apply). In 2025 she wrote a BBC radio 4 radio play called The Coat, which was created in association with Phosphoros, and starred some of our performers.
