Dawn Harrison

Writer and Director

Dawn is an ex drama teacher and Senior Youth Worker and was Artistic Director of Reading Youth Theatre for over ten years before starting Phosphoros with her daughter Kate. Dawn has been writing television drama since 2000, with credits that include Holby City, The Bill, The Royal. Since 2010 she has been on the core writing team of ITV’s Emmerdale, and also writes for CBBC’s award-winning The Dumping Ground. Her episode ‘Refugees’ won a certificate of Merit at the Chicago International Film Festival (2012) and other episodes have won Royal Television Society Awards. Dawn also won Best Single Episode at the British Soap Awards for BBC’s Doctors in 2012.

Dawn lives in Derbyshire where she hosts the Phosphoros family’s regular rehearsal residential trips which feature (as well as hard work) dog-walks, cooking, and lots of wellie boots.

Dawn also takes an interest in advocacy and has represented Phosphoros several times in court.
